Planting Design: A New Naturalism

Naturalistic planting styles have taken the garden world by storm. Ecological issues and a desire to 'get closer to nature' have led many to explore a new way of planting and maintaining gardens. Such planting can be strikingly beautiful, evoking all that is most attractive in the natural landscape.  Successful gardens are underpinned by good spatial design and a thorough knowledge of planting combinations.

A New Naturalism describes the history of the genre and reviews the various ways in which designers are applying natrualism today. It offers analyses of plantings both in nature and in gardens, in order to describe how the effects can be achieved.
